Apple is expected to announce a new iPad Pro in 2024. After a mild M2 update in late 2022, rumors indicate a significant refresh coming to Apple’s high-end tablets early next year. Here’s everything we know about it.

Design: Apple embraces OLED displays

After differentiating both iPad Pro models by their display (LCD for the 11-inch model and miniLED for the 12.9-inch version), Apple is said to see the same panel technology for the different screen sizes.

Actually, of all the rumors, this is the one we have heard the most about during the lifecycle of the 2022 iPad Pro. In October last year, DSCC’s Ross Young predicted that both iPad Pro models would have an OLED display in 2024.

According to him, Apple is making this switch because “costs are falling,” OLED performance is improving thanks to tandem stacks and phosphorescent blue emitters. Besides Young, many other analysts reinforced that OLED is coming to the new iPad, such as The Elec, Omdia, Bloomberg, and more.

Recently, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his Power On newsletter, said Apple is increasing the display size of the larger iPad Pro from 12.9 inches to 13-inches. Besides that, it’s unclear if Apple will change the aluminum finish of this tablet or if it will have any other design change.

Front facing camera should have a new spot

iPad 10

With the tenth-generation iPad, Apple switched the front-facing camera from the top to the center of its right side. This change improves how users appear on a video call, as people have been using the iPad more in horizontal mode rather than vertical.

If Apple changes the 2024 iPad Pro, video calls will look more natural when the iPad is connected to the Magic Keyboard; also, Center Stage is still expected to be a feature of this new tablet.

At the moment, it’s unclear if Apple will improve the TrueDepth system on the new iPad Pro or if it will have the same specs as the 2022 model.

Color options

Since Apple redesigned the iPad Pro in 2018, it has offered both Space Gray and Silver models, just like the high-end MacBook Pro. In previous years, Apple has also provided this iPad in gold and rose gold options, but it’s unclear if this high-end model could offer more colors again.

At the moment, it seems that “fun” colors will be prioritized in other iPad lines, such as the base and Air versions.

The M3 chip should power the 2024 iPad Pro

iPad Pro M2

Since Apple finished introducing the latest M2 chips with the Mac Pro and Mac Studio during the WWDC 2023 keynote, we focus on the M3 processor, which could have the first batch of products announced later in October.

At the moment, it’s expected that this processor will power the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Air, an entry-level Mac mini, and a new iteration of the 24-inch iMac. Unlike the M2 processor, the M3 should have a more impressive spec bump, as it’s expected to feature a new 3nm technology process.

If that turns out to be accurate, the M3 chip could once again raise the bar of how fast “entry-level” processors should be. In addition, if Apple follows the trend, the 2024 iPad Pro will likely have this chip, making the new iPad even more powerful than it currently is.

At the moment, it’s unclear if Apple could add 16GB of RAM for more storage options or if it’s planning to switch the current storage options available. At the moment, here are the specs of the high-end iPad:

  • 128GB with 8GB of RAM
  • 256GB with 8GB of RAM
  • 512GB with 8GB of RAM
  • 1TB with 16GB of RAM
  • 2TB with 16GB of RAM

Will there be camera upgrades to the 2024 iPad Pro?

Apple iPad Pro CameraImage source: Christian de Looper for BGR

The iPad Pro usually has cameras on pair with the latest iPhone releases. If Apple follows the trend, these are a few improvements we could see with the upcoming iPad:

  • A 48MP main camera
  • Ultra Wide lens with 12MP
  • Smart HDR 4 + Photonigh Engine
  • Cinematic Mode with new recording options
  • Action Mode
  • Autofocus on the front-facing camera

In addition, Apple could add Spatial Video support, as the new iPhone 15 Pro also has it. This feature lets users capture videos with depth, which could be later shown on Apple Vision Pro.

Another function Apple could bring to this tablet is log-encoded video support, another feature of the latest iPhone release.

Accessories

Apple might be planning to revamp both of iPad Pro’s accessories:

Magic Keyboard is getting a revamp

Apple iPad Pro Keyboard

In a Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman said Apple is redesigning the Magic Keyboard. “The new accessory makes the iPad Pro look even more like a laptop than the current setup and adds a larger trackpad.”

Currently, Magic Keyboard users complain it’s bulkier and drains the iPad’s battery really fast. In addition, its extra USB-C port has slow tech compared to the iPad Pro’s Thunderbolt port. Since this accessory is expensive, we hope Apple makes it lighter and less power-consuming.

In addition, a larger trackpad could help users navigate through the system. At the moment, it’s unclear if a new Apple Pencil is in the works.

Apple Pencil 3 with interchangeable tips

According to X leaker Majin Bu, Apple is readying the Apple Pencil 3 with interchangeable magnetic tips. They say Cupertino will bet on a tip for drawing, one for technical drawing, and one for painting.

It’s unclear if this accessory will solve an issue where the 2nd-gen Apple Pencil drains the battery of the iPad Pro when placed on it, but interestingly, Apple might be planning to update this five-year-old accessory.

In October, Cupertino unveiled a USB-C Apple Pencil. It’s not as good as the 2nd-gen model, but it doesn’t mean Apple isn’t planning a new model for this upcoming iPad.

iPadOS 17 will power the 2024 iPad Pro

iPadOS 17 will power the upcoming iPad Pro. Even though there are a few new features, this operating system doesn’t unlock the true potential of this hardware. Here are the critical points of this system:

  • New Lock Screen: iPadOS 17’s new Lock Screen resembles the one available for iOS 16. It also introduces Live Activities support and adds widgets to this screen;
  •  Stage Manager: It offers a more flexible layout when moving and resizing windows (especially with an external display), so you can set up your workspace just how you want it. In addition, you can use the built-in camera in your external display for FaceTime and conference calls for the first time;
  • Freeform: Adds new drawing tools, such as a watercolor brush, calligraphy pen, highlighter, variable-width pen, and ruler. With Shape Recognition, users can hand draw a shape like a square and watch a perfect version snap into place.

There’s so much more coming with iPadOS 17, but more multitasking features may come with the iPadOS 18 software update.

Release date

The new iPad Pro should be released in early 2024. Mark Gurman expects this device to be introduced between a spring event and WWDC.

According to a report from South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo (via OLED-Info), OLED panels for this new iPad will begin mass production in February 2024, meaning this product could launch between fall and early summer.

Price

It’s unclear if the new features will make the iPad Pro more expensive. Currently, Apple charges a bit more on the 12.9-inch model due to its miniLED display. Cupertino could make the 11-inch model more costly while making the 13-inch option more affordable.

These are the current prices for the 128GB iPad models:

  • The 11-inch model starts at $799
  • The 12.9-inch model starts at $1,099

That said, The Korean version of The Elec says that Apple will pay up to three times more for the OLED panel than the ones used by its competitors today.

Apple, LG Display, and Samsung Display are discussing the supply price of OLED panels for iPads scheduled to be released next year at around $270 for the 11-inch model and $350 for the 13-inch model. The supply price of OLED panels for existing IT products in the early 10-inch range is around $100-150.

The publication says Apple will pay more for the new 2024 iPad Pro OLED panel because it will introduce new processes not found in existing products, such as a two-stack tandem structure, an LTPO thin film transistor, and a hybrid OLED structure. That said, industry analysts believe supply prices are bound to rise because of this new process.

Of course, we’ll only know for sure once Apple announces this new tablet. BGR will keep updating this article as we learn more about this product in the future.

For the first time since Steve Jobs introduced the original iPad in 2010, it seems 2023 will be the first year we won’t have any new models unveiled. That said, reports suggest Cupertino will update all of its tablets in 2024, with Bloomberg being the latest publication to weigh in.

Here’s when and what to expect from each of the new iPads coming in 2024:

iPad 11: After a major tenth update in 2022, Apple might focus on a small upgrade for this upcoming model. Besides the A15 Bionic chip, Cupertino could add new colors and improve the cameras with newer versions of Smart HDR or Photonic Engine. It’s important to note that this tablet still doesn’t feature a fully laminated display or fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating.

Its release date is expected for 2024, but it’s unclear if Apple could unveil them during a spring event, WWDC, or an October keynote.

iPad mini 7: This tablet was expected to be unveiled in late 2023 with the A16 Bionic chip, but it turns out Apple might be holding its announcement for 2024. It’s unclear when, but it won’t likely get a major update besides a new processor, colors, and camera improvements.

iPad Air 6: The main change for this iPad will be the addition of the M2 processors. Some rumors suggest a 12.9-inch model is being developed. Besides new colors, Apple could make a new Magic Keyboard compatible with this product. This tablet could be announced alongside a new iPad Pro version in early 2024. That said, a model with an OLED display could launch by 2026.

M3 iPad Pro: Now that Apple has introduced some Macs with the M3 chip, the company could launch an iPad with this processor by the beginning of 2024. The changes for this tablet could include new accessories, an OLED display, and camera improvements. BGR has a complete guide on what to expect regarding the 2024 iPad Pro.

We’ll keep updating this article as we learn more about Apple’s plans for its upcoming tablets.

iPadOS 17 could tease OLED iPad Pro RC announcement

In 2023, Apple decided not to update any of its iPad models. Although there are several rumors regarding the company planning to give a spec bump to its entire lineup in 2024 – and even adding a 12.9-inch iPad Air as well – I think Apple must give its tablets a Mac moment; otherwise, revenue will continue to go down, and users will continue skipping new models.

During Apple’s Q3 earnings call, the company’s CEO, Tim Cook, announced Mac and iPad revenue came in at $7.6 billion and $6.4 billion, respectively. During the same quarter a year ago, Mac and iPad revenue came in at $11.5 billion and $7.1 billion, respectively.

Although Mac sales had a considerable dip, Apple couldn’t be prouder with its current lineup. Its Macs are always praised for the company’s silicon, and with a mature operating system such as macOS, even though Sonoma is light on features, it’s still reliable and has what most users need for their everyday tasks.

What concerns me the most about the upcoming iPad models is the lack of new features and a real need to upgrade them. Despite the OLED iPad Pro, which I’m excited to see if Apple is bringing a major design change, as the company is said to be planning new accessories for this tablet, all the other iPads seem to be just dull updates.

In a previous article, I mentioned that since Apple will likely just add a new chip to upcoming iPad, mini, and Air models, the company might as well add more storage options, as 64GB and 256GB are quite limiting.

Despite that, I hope Apple finally brings a revamp to iPadOS. After all these years, the Home Screen is still full of blank spaces, and for most use cases, we need to find workarounds to what could be a simple task on a Mac.

BGR will let you know once we hear more about future iPad models.

iPad Air (2022) Main

Apple’s 5th-generation iPad Air is the best iPad Air model yet on several different levels. It’s by far the fastest and most powerful iPad Air. It has the most stunning display and the best design, too. But Apple’s latest iPad Air is also very expensive, with a base price of $599. It’s worth that hefty price for many people, but that’s still a lot of money to spend on a tablet.

The good news is that there’s a great iPad Air deal running right now at Amazon that saves you $100 on this awesome 5th-generation tablet. That means you can get an iPad Air with 64GB for just $499.99 instead of $599. Or, you can pick up the 256GB iPad Air for $649, down from $749.

Our iPad Air review makes it crystal clear that the 5th-generation model is Apple’s best iPad Air to date. You get power and performance like you can’t believe, and yet this model is much less expensive than the iPad Pro, which starts at $799.

The 5th-gen iPad Air features a great design with a large 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display and smaller bezels. There’s no home button on the front, but you still get Touch ID because there’s a fingerprint reader integrated into the sleep/wake button on the side.

Also of note, Apple’s latest iPad Air is powered by the Apple M1 chip instead of an A-series chip. That’s the same powerful Apple silicon that’s used in Mac computers, and it makes the iPad Air one of the fastest tablets on the planet.

Of course, all that power comes at a price, and in this case, it’s either $599 or $749 depending on how much storage you need. Right now, however, iPad Air deals on Amazon will save you $100 on either model. That means you can pick up an iPad Air with 64GB for $499.99 instead of $599, or you can get the 256GB version for $649 instead of $749.

If you’re looking for a new iPad, but you were hoping to spend a lot less money, you’re still in luck.

In addition to those iPad Air deals, Amazon is also offering some great discounts on Apple’s 9th-generation entry-level iPad. This is the 10.2-inch iPad that’s still among Apple’s most popular models even though there’s now a 10th-generation tablet above it.

The 10.2-inch iPad remains in Apple’s tablet lineup with a base price of $329 for the 64GB model. Right now, however, there’s a discount that drops it to $249. Or, if you want more storage, the 256GB version is down to $399. Regardless of which size you get, you’ll save $80 off the retail price.

Apple iPad Pro

Samsung Display is often the OLED screen manufacturer mentioned in reports detailing Apple’s rumored iPad and MacBook models of the future. But Apple also taps LG for OLED panels, with a new report indicating that LG is already readying additional production lines for the upcoming Apple products.

The iPad Pro, which comes in 11-inch and 13-inch flavors, will be the first to get new OLED screens next year. LG will supposedly also supply OLED panels for MacBooks by 2027. Interestingly, a recent report said Apple won’t use OLED screens on its MacBook Pros until 2027, as it’s waiting for suppliers to build new manufacturing lines.

LG being a potential supplier of larger OLED panels for Apple is not a surprise. LG makes some of the best TV OLED screens, and it also supplies OLED panels for the iPhone. That said, Samsung is still the main supplier of iPhone OLED panels.

But LG’s upcoming iPad and MacBook OLED screens will be different. Previous reports said Apple is going for a two-stack design for iPad Pros with OLED screens. Such OLED panels feature a two-stack tandem structure consisting of two light-emitting layers stacked together. The Elec’s new report mentions the same technology.

The advantage of two-stack structures is that the screens are more efficient. They can produce the same power as single-stack screens. Or they can offer increased brightness compared to the single-stack solution.

Also, the improved power efficiency can increase the longevity of products. The report notes that cars need to be used for 10 years, while iPads and MacBooks have to last for several years.

The mention of cars isn’t accidental. LG has been developing “RD” display technology for car infotainment systems and IT products. Initially, the first RD OLED panels were used in both vehicles and IT products. But the iPad and MacBooks that will get OLED panels will have brand new LG screens manufactured for this type of product.

The iPad Pros will reportedly feature LG’s RDE OLED generation next year. Then, RDG OLED screens will then power Apple’s MacBooks in 2027. The RDF version will be used in Genesis cars.

LG’s RDA screens were used in Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Fold foldable laptop. The RDC generation was used in this year’s LG Gram Fold and HP Spectre Fold foldable laptops. LG also made RDC OLED panels for Mercedes cars.

The latest UBI Research report shows an impressive forecast growth of OLED shipments by 2027, which is the same period Apple plans to add this panel to its iPad and MacBook devices in the coming years.

According to the IT OLED Technology and Industry Trend Analysis Report, OLED shipments for tablet PCs, notebooks, and monitored are expected to reach 31 million units in 2027, with an average annual growth rate of 41%.

Although Apple won’t be responsible for all of this growth alone, the company will help increase demand. In 2024, Cupertino is expected to ditch LCD and miniLED in favor of OLED for the new iPad Pro models. These tablets will first use the 6th generation OLED technology made by Samsung and LG, followed by BOE’s.

OLED shipment forecastImage source: UBI Research

Interestingly, the shipment forecast for OLED panels will jump from 7.9 million in 2023 to 18.8 million in 2024. By 2026, when Apple is rumored to introduce OLED technology for the high-end MacBook Pro models, the shipment forecast is 26.9 million.

By 2026, Apple will use Samsung’s 8th generation OLED, which started development this year and will hit mass production by the first half of 2026. Also in that year, Apple is expected to expand the OLED technology to the iPad Air and iPad mini.

By then, all iPhone models in sale will have an OLED display, most Apple Watch models, and all iPads, except for the entry version.

At the moment, it seems Apple will mainly focus on the MacBook Pro, but it might expand the OLED technology for the MacBook Air or an upcoming monitor or iMac, although rumors so far are sparse.

BGR will keep following OLED demand as rumors about Apple adopting this technology grow.

Apple will not release a new iPad model in 2023 for the first time in years. While we learned from several sources and reports about upcoming models in the works, it seems the next significant refresh from Apple’s tablet lineup will be in spring 2024.

This, of course, is according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. In his Power On newsletter, the journalist writes that Apple isn’t planning to launch the new iPad until around next March, so the company released a USB-C Apple Pencil out of nowhere last week.

With that in mind, this is what the company could be saving for its tablets in the next few months.

Here’s what to expect from Apple’s iPad models

Apple's iPad lineup as of March 2022
Apple’s iPad lineup as of March 2022. Image source: Apple Inc.

iPad Pro: The most significant update since its redesign in 2018 and the introduction of the M1 chip in 2021, the most expensive Apple tablet should get an OLED display alongside the M3 processor, new camera capabilities, and a revamped Magic Keyboard accessory. BGR has been reporting about this tablet for over a year, which should be announced in a 2024 spring event.

iPad Air: We’ll likely get not two but four iPad Air models. First reported by 9to5Mac, it seems Apple is readying a larger version of this tablet. All of them would feature an LCD display, the M2 processor, and possibly new improvements to the camera. New colors are also on the table.

iPad mini: The smaller tablet by Apple should get the A16 Bionic processor and new colors. Rumors expect this to be a small upgrade.

iPad: On its eleventh generation, Apple will likely bring a new processor and also new colors. Rumors also expect this to be a minor upgrade.

What else could Apple unveil during a spring event?

Since not all iPads will get major features, Apple could give keynote time to some of them as the company could likely unveil new Macs, a new iPhone color, and the release date of Apple Vision Pro.

As we get closer to spring, we’ll learn more about what Apple could unveil during this future event. One thing is certain: 2024 could be a big year for iPad.

Apple iPad Mini 2021 Front

I may be making a return to the wonderful world of mini if these iPad mini rumors turn out to be true.

I’ve historically been an iPad Air person. The Pro was too “pro” for my use case, and the iPad mini was too tiny to support the kind of productivity I’ve wanted to get out of it, especially as a writer who wants that Magic Keyboard.

However, things changed when Apple announced the 6th-generation iPad mini with its new design. I took a leap two years ago and switched from the iPad Air and the Magic Keyboard to the teeny tiny iPad. While it was great for a while and the best iPad I’ve ever used for content consumption, like reading books and watching YouTube, movies, and TV, I still missed having that keyboard to write with. So, I switched back to the iPad Air all over again.

iPad Air 5 with Magic Keyboard.

Two years later, the rumors about a new iPad mini continue to grow. And, with it, my interest in making the switch grows as well. This time, it’s different, though! Last time, I was all-in on the idea of making the iPad my ONLY computer rather than having both a MacBook Air and an iPad. I took that to the extreme and attempted to do EVERYTHING — including writing these blog posts — on an iPad mini.

Looking back, I obviously set myself up for failure here, and my minimalistic mind really went too far. However, that still rang true when I tried to do the same with the iPad Air and Magic Keyboard. Since those experiments, I’ve picked up the M2 MacBook Air and have absolutely loved it. There’s still truly no substitute for a laptop for some people — even as much as Apple might want the iPad to be.

The iPad mini is the iPad I actually want

After living with both the M2 MacBook Air and the iPad Air for over a year, I’ve found myself reaching for my Mac time and time again, leaving the iPad Air and its Magic Keyboard sitting inside the coffee table. I’ll be honest — most times that I actually think to grab the iPad now, it’s already dead, and I either have to recharge and actually use it or just use my Mac. Guess which one I end up using.

The ONLY time I find myself using my iPad Air is when I fly. There’s no denying that the form factor of the iPad Air and Magic Keyboard makes it easier to use on a plane. However, I might only fly less than 10 times a year — hardly a reason to keep the iPad Air around all of the time anymore. So, with my use cases shrinking for a productivity-focused iPad and new iPad mini rumors swirling, I started rethinking which iPad made the most sense for someone like me.

What do I want to use an iPad for now that the Mac is taking care of most things? Well, I want something that I can read on. I love Apple News with its magazines and Apple Books for its…obviously, ebooks. I also want something to watch YouTube, Apple TV+, HBO (eat it, Max), and all of the other streaming services. It would also be nice to have something to play some Apple Arcade games on without having to stuff my iPhone into a controller like the Backbone One.

What iPad meets all of those wishes? It’s pretty obvious: the iPad mini.

Should I wait or should I go now?

Thankfully for me, there are a ton of rumors swirling about Apple releasing the 7th generation of the iPad mini this year. While some thought it would happen today, the only thing we got was a new Apple Pencil, something that infuriated me an unreasonable amount. The only reason that product has to exist is because Apple botched the 10th-generation iPad!

That aside, we’re still waiting on a new iPad mini. I dug into what we’re expecting with the next generation, and according to the rumor mill, we’re getting the A16 Bionic processor from the iPhone 14 Pro, upgrades to both the front and rear cameras, and an improvement to the display that fixes that jellyscrolling issue that some users have been experiencing.

It is also rumored to come in a new set of colors. The current generation comes in Space Black, Starlight, Purple, and Pink. I have been hoping for Apple to release a Blue or Silver iPad mini, so either of these colors would be sincerely welcomed…by me, anyway.

Are any of these upgrades reason enough to upgrade to the new model when it gets announced? That’s tough to say, especially if Apple is keeping the iPad mini at its $499 price point. None of those upgrades seem like they will be a huge deal in changing the overall experience, and the used iPad mini market already has units in great condition for under $400.

One thing is for sure, though. Whether it be the 6th or 7th generation, I’ll be trading in my iPad Air when the company unveils its update to the small but mighty iPad.

A new report corroborates a larger iPad Air is in the works. This time, DigiTimes (via MacRumors), in its “Before Going to Press” section, says Apple is developing a 12.9-inch iPad Air. Unlike the iPad Pro, this larger tablet wouldn’t feature a miniLED or OLED display but the same LCD technology available on the current Air lineup.

That said, this larger iPad Air wouldn’t feature ProMotion, an exclusive feature of the iPad Pro models. DigiTimes believes Apple is developing newer models with 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch panels.

Here’s what we know about the upcoming iPad Air

Early this month, 9to5Mac’s Filipe Espósito reported that Apple was working on not two but four different Air models. According to the journalist, besides the regular models identified as J507 and J508 (Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular versions), Apple is also working on larger versions codenamed J537 and J538. He reported:

(…) Apple has also been working on other iPads identified as J537 and J538 that are based on the iPad Air. For instance, the only iPad that currently has more than one version is the iPad Pro, as it comes in 11 and 12.9 inches, so there are two models for each version.

Details are vague at this point, but this suggests that Apple may be considering introducing a larger version of the iPad Air, or a more expensive model with better specs. Of course, Apple’s plans may change and this second version of the new iPad Air may never see the light of day.

In addition to a larger model, rumors expect this tablet to feature the M2 chip and some camera upgrades. That said, since the current iPad Air starts at $599 and the iPad Pro at $799, that means that a larger version of the Air would cost at least $699, but to not cannibalize its own market, a pricier model could mean that Apple might be planning to raise prices of the future iPad Pro.

Currently, there’s a $300 difference between the 11-inch and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro model due to the miniLED display. With the next generation expected to switch to OLED, this could mean that Apple is planning to increase the price of the 11-inch model.

But while it’s already hard to justify an iPad Pro, a larger iPad Air doesn’t look like it would be worth the price. Personally, I think Apple should worry about improving the storage capacity of the entry models rather than bringing a larger display.

That said, Apple could announce these iPads between now and early 2024, although it’s more likely that Cupertino will hold these announcements, alongside new M3 Macs, for early next year.

There are a few rumors about Apple developing foldable devices. The most consistent regards a foldable iPad. According to a paywalled DigiTimes report (via MacRumors), Apple is in “intensive development” of this device, and the company could unveil it as soon as the end of 2024 or early 2025.

The publication says that Apple hasn’t finalized the design of this foldable iPad, as the company aims to “achieve a more cost-effective design, motivating contentious changes to the device.” In addition, Cupertino is worried about the device’s panel and hinges, as the display could crease.

Interestingly, this report comes a few months after DigiTimes said Apple was “considering foldable tablets.” Unfortunately, the publication doesn’t give possible specs of this foldable iPad and how it would compare to the current iPad lineup.

Previously, The Elec, DSCC, Bloomberg, and Omdia said Apple was working on a hybrid foldable iPad/MacBook with a 20-inch display. The latter stated that this device could be released by 2026.

In 2022, DSCC Ross Young shared that suppliers were in talks with Apple to create a 20-inch foldable of some kind. The idea would be to bring together the usefulness of a notebook with a singular display like you might see on the iPad. Young even went so far as to say that the foldable MacBook hybrid could serve as a true dual-use product. It could act as a notebook with a full-size keyboard while also being viable as a standalone monitor when not folded or used with an external keyboard. Young also said the device could offer up to 4K resolution or higher.

Then, in his Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman corroborated Young’s reports. He said Apple may very well go with a foldable 20-inch screen that uses a physical keyboard or a virtual keyboard on one side of the folding display, as the company was exploring a dual-screen setup.

At the moment, it’s unclear if this iPad/MacBook hybrid could be the foldable iPad DigiTimes is now reporting. Still, it’s interesting that this device could launch that soon – mainly because we’re waiting for a revamped OLED iPad Pro in early 2024. Also, studies show that the tablet market is going downhill.

BGR will keep reporting on Apple’s effort to release foldable devices, which includes iPad, Mac, and iPhone models.
